At any time, the castle leader can be challenged in a fight-to-the-death for his position, and it is his duty to accept it, for if he is powerful, shouldn't he be able to defeat his challenger? The castle leader is the only one who can appoint dukes and duchesses. He's also the only one who can demote them. The castle leader deals out punishments to offenders. Dukes and duchesses can recommend a punishment, but only castle leader can make it official.
